Custom Orders


Thank you for your interest in ordering a custom piece from me!

My pottery is a hobby/side gig, and have limited bandwidth for custom orders because I also want to have time to make whatever the heck I want for the People of the Internet, and also to play outside/have a life :P

Occasionally I open up a few custom order slots, which become available on a first-come, first-serve basis. 

Any time I open up custom order, I'll announce it in advance on the 'gram and via my newsletter (sign up is on my home page). 

Below are some details from my custom order listing, which is currently inactive:

  • You can pick just about any creature you'd like (no pet portraits, please)! If your request is too far our of my wheelhouse, we can discuss alternatives that we are both happy with. We will settle on the details (species, approximate size, handle placement, etc.) before I get to work and I will keep you updated throughout.
  • The price listed is the standard price for a critter on a mug of your choosing. If your request includes additional elements such as text, vegetation, multiple individuals etc., we will agree on a revised price depending on the complexity of your request and I will send you a second invoice to fill before I begin your piece. 
  • Payment is due in full at time of reserving your spot - add to cart and check out to confirm your spot in my next batch!
  • Limit of 1 custom order each! While I will have the inventory set to 5, if you purchase multiple custom orders, I will cancel and refund your order - all of it, because I will be annoyed and not want to make you a custom piece anymore, and make your spot available for somebody else. I will likely allow repeat custom orders in the future, but how and when is still TBD.
  • Standard turnaround time will be up to 12 weeks. While I will try to get custom orders to their homes sooner, but please keep in mind that I do pottery in my spare time and that sometimes it has to take a back seat to other work or life priorities. If tragedy strikes your piece (e.g. cracking in the kiln or other catastrophic failure during the creation process) and I need to start over, I will be in touch to revise the timeline accordingly. I appreciate your patience!
  • I will reach out within a day or two via email (from buteostudio@gmail.com) to work out the details of what you'd like on your custom piece. If you do Not receive this email from me, please check your spam filters and/or send me an email to figure out what's going on. If I cannot reach you and you do not respond within 3 business days while we are working out the details of your piece, I will refund your order and offer up your spot to someone else. I'd send a follow up/warning before that happens, as I am pretty flexible and would strongly prefer not to cancel anybody's order!
